Velaa Crowned Noonu Zone Champions
Velaa Private Island Maldives were crowned Resort League 2026 Noonu Zone Champions after producing a commanding 4-1 victory over Soneva Jani in the final at Siyam World Maldives, completing a remarkable redemption story four years after finishing runners-up to the same opponents.
The victory marked Velaa's first-ever Noonu Zone title and secured their place in the Resort Super League 2026.
The final carried added significance, as it was a rematch of the 2022 Noonu Zone Final, when Soneva Jani defeated Velaa 4-1 to lift the championship. This time, however, Velaa turned the tables in emphatic fashion, producing a composed and clinical performance to claim the title with the very same scoreline.
Velaa entered the final full of confidence after an impressive campaign throughout the tournament. The eventual champions remained one of the standout teams of the league, including a dominant 5-0 victory over Soneva Jani during the group stage, before carrying that momentum into the championship match.
